The trend of using undermount drawer slides

Drawer slides are accessories that help create a smooth movement for the drawers, helping users to open / close the cabinet simply & gently. Drawer slides are divided side mount slides and under mount slides. Because of the increasing aesthetic requirements in furniture, the under mount slides are also preferred to use more than conventional slides.

Under mount slides are also divided into 2 types based on the maximum opening space of the drawer: ¾ opening and fully opening.  Compared with other types of slides, under-mount slides are installed at the bottom of the drawer.  When opening the drawer, you will not see the slides. So it does not affect the aesthetics of the cabinet. In addition, due to being installed at the bottom of the cabinet drawer, the under-mount slides have a higher load capacity and sag resistance compared to conventional slides.

Under mount slide are equipped with additional damper pistons that will help the drawer close automatically and smoothly. When the drawer is pushed to close, the resistance inside the air pipe also works in parallel, so the drawer closes slowly, avoid making noise.  Therefore, the drawer is not bumped the cabinet edge, helping to improve the durability of the cabinet.

Before, ball bearing slides are used commonly because of the cheap price and quick installation. However, in recent year, the demand in aesthetics and utility of cabinet’s user is higher, under mount slides are widely used to replay the ball bearing slides. Contributing to the aesthetics, helping close cabinet smoothly, avoiding jammed/ derailment or making noise, under mount slides are especially safe to use, avoiding hand-holding in families with children.
